Over the summer, some of our members were invited to take part in the “Oxford Zine Workshops” – a project organised by Oxford Brookes students Andy, Natasha, Tania, and Mark.

They said, “Giving people from the local community, particularly people with Learning Disabilities, an opportunity to express themselves was our primary goal. We offered the space for our attendees to explore and experiment with topics, themes and styles without judgement or constraint. Bringing our collective skills in writing, art and workshop facilitation, we were able to help guide the already bubbling creative talent of the people who participated.”

Pam said, “I found it difficult because I’m not very good at drawing but, I’m really proud of my finished zine.”

“I would love to do it again, or something similar.”

Dawn said, “I thought it was exciting because I’ve never done anything like that before. I am very pleased with my zine.”

Copies of all of the zines are available for a small donation. Get in touch with Pam, Dawn or the MLMC office to find out more.
