Last week three of our trustees went with Imogen to the national self-advocacy convention in Blackpool.

This event was run by Pathways Associates and the Northwest Regional forum, a group of self-advocacy organisations in the North West of England.

The theme of the conference was 2020 vision – making a plan for what we want to see in 10 years.

The conference lasted for three days and was at the Grand hotel in Blackpool.

We travelled up on the train together early on Tuesday morning so that we could get there in time for the start at 12.

We went to lots of different talks and activities about issues that are important to people with learning disabilities.

These issues included work, leadership, self-advocacy, health, crime and much more.

We also went to some fun activities such as making a bucket list with the DAVID Project.

One of our Trustees, Ben, spoke on stage about the national social movement we are a part of.

Overall it was a great conference!

We met lots of fantastic people doing great work and learned a lot.
