1. MLMC Walking Club Starts Up

With money from the People’s Health Trust, we started a walking club to help people get fit and make friends. It has been a huge success so far and we look forward to Pam and Gina taking it on as walking leaders next year.

2. New office

We moved office!! We love our new space at Watlington House and are very much looking forward to the next few years here.

3. We Started new groups

We have established a few new groups this year to help more people learn skills, meet up and have a voice. These include Abingdon Young people’s group, a group in Witney and a group at Abingdon and Witney College.

4 .New staff

Several great people have started working at My Life My Choice this year:

5. Gig Buddies is a huge success

6. Campaigns in London

In the summer, a group of champions went to London for 5 days of protests about the treatment of people with learning disabilities in ATUs. Although this is a sad topic, it was a great experience important to have our voices heard.

7. Stingray restarts

Stingray got a brand new look this year as we moved to the Spirit Bar in Oxford. The new venue is fabulous and we’ve had a great time dancing and partying here this year.

8. Power Up Training

With Funding from Great Western Rail, Thames Valley Police and the People’s Postcode lottery, Power up is delivering some great training this year including training on travelling on the trains, and a film and training on mate crime.

9. Jobs Campaign

This year we launched our Jobs campaign asking organisations  to employ at least 1% people with learning disabilities. We have 26 certified ‘Learning Disability Inclusive Employers’ all around the country and big plans for 2020.

10. Christmas Ceilidh

Finally, we had a wonderful time at our most accessible Christmas Party yet! Everyone had a great time dancing along to the band and won some fabulous prizes in the raffle.
