Paul is 49 and has been a member of My Life My Choice for many years.

Over the last few months, Paul has been trying to be healthier by going to the gym, walking and quitting smoking.

This started when Paul went to a free session with personal trainer Vicky at The Park Club Gym in Oxford.

Paul now goes to a training session with Vicky every Friday.

She is helping him to get fit through exercises to improve his strength, muscles and balance.

Paul says “In the past I’ve been to gyms and people stare and me and I feel pushed too hard. This is much better, I feel comfortable as no-one is looking and Vicky is amazingly supportive”.

From just a few weeks at the gym Paul has gone from about 7.5 stone to 9.5 – a healthier weight for his height.

As well as going to the Gym, Paul is trying to do more exercise generally.

Supported by fellow trustee Gina, he has been walking around Oxford instead of taking the bus.

He has also been doing exercises at home such as the plank.

Paul is also trying to quit smoking for his health.

He used to have lots of cigarettes every day but he has not had any cigarettes since Friday.

Not smoking has saved Paul lots of money as well as being better for his health.

Paul says, “it is hard but worth it!”
