On Thursday 17th March Kumudu and James went to County Hall in Oxford for the Health and Wellbeing Board.
The Health and Wellbeing Board is an important meeting where they decide how health and social care is run in our county.
We were invited by the county Adult Social Care Team to talk about the ‘We Can’t Wait’ Campaign.
This is our campaign to make sure people with a learning disability don’t end up on social care or NHS waiting lists. If you would like to read more about our We Can't Wait campaign, please click here.
Kumudu and James had a meeting with the Adult Social Care Team beforehand.
They told us they wanted to make the ‘We Can’t Wait’ Campaign’ part of their plan for social care in Oxfordshire.
We were so pleased they said that adult social care wanted to do this!
We still had to get the Health and Wellbeing Board to pass the plan though.
Kumudu, Ben and James worked on a speech to tell the Health and Wellbeing Board why they should agree with the plan.
At the meeting Kumudu gave a brilliant speech about why the ‘We Can’t Wait’ campaign was important. Everybody at the meeting clapped him and the plan passed!
Kumudu said the meeting was “really good”. He also said that it was important that the board had listened to someone with a disability.
