This month our Oxford Self Advocacy group sprung out of their usual meeting hall and decided to have their meeting in the park.

Although it initially looked like it was going to rain, the weather was beautiful in the end and all members had a lovely time. Everyone brought food and drinks to share and there was a table and chairs so everyone could sit around together and have a discussion.

Members discussed personal issues and received support, and they talked about group dynamics to make sure everyone felt equal and seen.

Overall, the members said they had a lovely time and the wish to repeat this again in future, with more and different outings.
My Life My Choice runs monthly self-advocacy groups in many towns and villages around Oxfordshire to give members an opportunity to make friends, express their opinions and learn new skills.

A few members in the Oxford Group this month said that the self-advocacy group is very important to them as it gives them a night out. Other members have also said they like meeting their friends and that it is good to be able to express their views and be listened to.
