Hello, my name is Yazz.
I am the Gig Buddies Coordinator.
I've been working with Learning Disability England (LDE) part-time since June.
LDE is an organisation that brings together people with learning disabilities, families, friends and professionals from all over England.
They do a lot of work to make life better for people with learning disabilities and their families.
I want to tell you about what I've been doing with them.
I've been working with them for three days each week.
The other two days I work with My Life My Choice.
When I'm working at LDE I am working on a funding pot.
A funding pot is a pot of money that is given out to other organisations. Those organisations use that money to help people.
The funding pot I'm working on will help people with learning disabilities during the coronavirus outbreak.
The funding pot has £80,000 in it.
The money is from the Department of Health and Social Care.
I invited a team of experts by experience and some family carers to sit on the funding pot advisory group.
We met on Zoom.
They helped make decisions on who could apply for the money, what they could use the money for and how much they could apply for.
After that meeting we were ready to open so people could apply for the money.
We have lots of applications! From lots of different organisations and people.
The team and I are going to meet up soon to decide who gets the money.
I think this next meeting is going to be tough but I'm up for the challenge!
I have enjoyed working with LDE and have learnt lots of new things and made some new friends.
I look forward to seeing how the rest of my work with them goes.
