Celebrating Learning Disability Week's theme of the importance of friendship during lockdown. Kumudu has wrote a blog to celebrate.
19 Jun 2020
My name is Kumudu.
I have had a learning disability since birth.
Before lockdown, I volunteered at the JR Hospital, Thames Valley Police and the Oxford Influencer Group.
When lockdown started, I had to stop doing these things.
I really like helping people so I looked for ways of how I could do this whilst I stay at home.
So I signed up to be a Phone Buddy.
Being a Phone Buddy is great for you and the person your are helping.
It reduces depressions and stops you feeling isolated and lonely, especially if you live on your own.
Life can be a struggle when you have a disability and it is important to get the right support.
Phone Buddies can help and it is a good way to make new friends.
Friendship is important.
That's what this year's #LDWeek2020 is all about, friends supporting each other during lockdown.
