We are running a Coronavirus helpline.
This helpline offers advice, friendship and support.
We can even link you up with a Phone Buddy to keep you company during the crisis.
We have had lots of success with our Phone Buddy scheme.
We want to share this story with you.
The name in this story is not the real one.
We called Simon and he asked for our help.
He said he hasn’t gone out to get his medication for fear of being fined.
He had run out of his antidepressants and was very sad.
He also said he had no food as he had gone to the shops but couldn’t get what he needed as the shelves were empty.
He had no loo roll.
He was worried about money and paying for his electricity.
We spoke with him. We offered advice about his medication and how to sort out his electricity.
We arranged a food parcel to be delivered to him.
We set him up with a MLMC Phone Buddy.
Simon is doing really well now.
He and his phone buddy speak a few times a week.
Simon is learning how to cook.
And he has been doing lots of jigsaw puzzles.
