Our learning disability nightclub is back and brilliant!
4 Sep 2019
On Tuesday 3rd September, Stingray nightclub held it’s first club night since December 2018.
Back in December last year, Stingray sadly had to stop because our venue, Plush, had to move and their new location was not accessible.
Since then, the Stingray team has been working very hard to find a new venue for Stingray so people with learning disabilities can enjoy a night out too.
The team looked at lots of different clubs in Oxford looking for somewhere with wheelchair access, disabled toilets and enough space for our members.
They also wanted a great staff team who were supportive of people with learning disabilities having a good time too.
In July 2019 we very luckily found the Spirit Bar in Oxford.
It was the perfect location for stingray as it is accessible, easy to get to by public transport and has good facilities for all our members.
We were also blown away by how kind and friendly the staff are so were delighted to have the bar as our venue!
We booked in dates for the year so that Stingray would take place on the first Tuesday of every month, starting in September.
We then sent out tickets to all MLMC members to give them free entry on the opening night to celebrate our new venue.
On the night, we got lots of people including people who had been at Stingray before and even some new faces.
There were a few small problems with microphones and walkie-talkies but the team solved them like professionals and made sure everyone had a great time.
Overall, everyone enjoyed the night, the music was great, the drinks were delicious and we had a great time dancing and seeing our friends.

Thanks to Spirit Bar for helping us make the nightclub a success and well done to all the Stingray team for organizing such a great event!
