Power Up!
We are Power Up! We are a team of trainers with learning disabilities.
Our work is extremely varied and we aim to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities by changing attitudes and by informing people in a fun and entertaining way.
We think that Power Up is a very good example of how people with learning disabilities can take on meaningful work activities.
Our Work
One of our big jobs over the last 12 months was carrying out extensive training for the Oxfordshire Learning Disability Partnership Board based around the Criminal Justice System. We looked at the challenges that face people with learning disabilities as victims, witnesses, as an accused person, and as a convicted person. Our audience included magistrates, police officers and the CPS.
After the training a local magistrate said,
“This interactive training showed me how people with learning disabilities see things and how they are perceived and treated. It should be seen throughout the Criminal Justice System”
We have done a lot of work on helping to improve health care for people with learning disabilities.

Consultation
Power Up has been commissioned by the Care Quality Commission to inspect Social Care homes, Local and Health Authorities. Our team of trained 'experts by experience' and supporters work in London and South East England.
